Buy a Pontiac Solstice, or wait for the 2010 Camaro?
I’m really digging the Pontiac Solstice, and like the small size; It fits well with my garage which is not that huge, and has a look that is definitely unique (The BMW Z4 is the only other car which comes to mind, in terms of front-end design for a covertible).
On the other hand. I’m in love with the 2010 Camaro; Bad News - Production is backed up 14k cars going forward; I could get one on the open market, but would pay above retail. And I just cannot bring myself to do that - One year is not worth several thousand dollars more.
I really don’t want to wait trading in my PT Cruiser for another year, so I’m inclined go with the Pontiac.
Thoughts?
NOTE: I’d jump for the Saturn as I do dig it over the Solstice, but I have my concerns about buying a model that did not sell well and the entire brand is promised to be phased out by 2010.

Go with the Pontiac. You can always get a Camaro later on when they’re cheaper.
Wait for the Camaro
I’d get the Solstice also, the GXP model. Actually I’d get the Sky Redline over the Pontiac but to each his own.
i like the camaro but it just doesn’t seem realistic.
no, never buy a solstice. the british call it “a horrible american interperetation of what a sports car should be”. even an american car magazine, motortrend, rated it 4th out of 4 with all its competitors. it doesn’t handle well, and the interior is shit.
the camaro, on the other hand, is going to be amazing. it was tuned on the nurburgring (the only place to tune a car in my opinion, because just a few weeks there can simulate an entire life’s worth of ware on the suspension, differential, clutch, and brake pads. not to mention, its the best place to test handling and grunt).
it has the same chassis as the holden commodore/monaro (you would know them as the pontiac g8, pontiac gto) which is a good thing because they have the best chassis’s that general motors has ever made.
the camaro will combine muscle car grunt with sports car performance, and on top of that, it will get green car economy.
gm knew that the camaro was coming out in an unsure time of the economy, so they tuned the v6 to not only have as much horsepower AS THE V8 MUSTANG, but to get better fuel economy than the v6 mustang.
the camaro is so much better than the solstice, it’s like comparing a kia to a rolls royce.
definitely wait for the camaro. they go on sale in a month or two btw.
camaro blows a solstice out of the water in my opinion.
For the same price as the Camaro, you could find the Solstice GXP, which has a 265HP Turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, which makes it much faster than the 306HP V6 Camaro, but still slower than the 426HP V8 SS.
The Solstice does handle much better and is more fun to drive than even the Camaro SS, but I have heard of lots of problems with the Solstice’s convertible top breaking and other problems. The Solstice is the same car as the Saturn Sky, but the Saturn is built better and has little or no problems with the top.
If you want comfort and practicality, wait for the Camaro.
If you are into going to a race track or turning fast, go with the Solstice.
wait for the camaro. the solstice is too small. its really a chicks car. haha. id totally wait for the camaro. that thing will be sooo badass!!!
