wow i come back from making this months ago. and i got all these comments LONG LIVE FIRBIRDS SCREW THE MUSTANGS! There over rated and to many people have them. The Firebird is considered rare to me now
“finest mixture of power and elegance” “there was more attention paid to detail and comfort and luxary on the firebird” …so tell me this why did the “spectacular” car CEASE to exist after 2002
theres not many f bodies for women to drive anymore since they went extinct back in 02 …and ive seen lots of women drivin chargers and impalas and camaros… but the thing is their the base V6 versions not the V8s
this car was one of the finest mixtures of power and elegance, cause eventhough shared the same platform with her cousin the chevy camaro, there was more attention paid to detail and comfort and luxury on the firebird, about mustangs………..just look out on the streets, how many women can u see driving F-bodies, now how many women u see driving mustangs? hope u get the message
Fact is FORD MUSTANG MUSCLE LIVES ON ..with the 300hp/320 torque S197 Ford Mustang GT and the 500hp/480torque Ford Shelby GT500 …best bang for the buck …higher prices equal lower sales and thats what KILLED the ANTIQUE Trans Am Firebird
R.I.P “Pontiac Trans Am Firebird” 1967-2002 …Long Live “Ford Mustang GT/Ford Shelby GT500″ Muscle ..BTW .The first Muscle Pony Car and the legend continues 1964-eternity
sure it’s a great engine, but who knows what pontiac would’ve made if they hadn’t had their hands tied? maybe some of those awesome 400 ci Ram Airs?? we’ll never know…
ya i think it had its ups and downs by makin them the same, because they were both badass cars, they were both similar cars, but makin them the same car with different looks had its ups and downs..i personally like the fact that they made the the same because the motor is awesome, but some people may not like the looks of one or the other, but in the end they both have the same mission, shit on mustangs
that’s what i meant that GM screwed pontiac over, it’s not since 93 that they’re both the same car, it’s actually since the 80’s, GM decided to use crop engines for all they’re branches to cut costs. i really love the third gen, and i also love the 4th, but as much as i love them it feels like the car lost it’s personality at the end, so i’m glad they axed it off, i mean the new camaro is actually a freakin holden!
well idk about the early ones, im talkin like 93-02…the lt1 and ls1 stages…they are both the same exact everything besides body..my knowledge on the older muscle isnt very good because i was brought up around all the modern muscle, so you are probably right about the older ones though
maybe, i didn’t examine any original pontiac nor would i be able to tell, but still they weren’t the same, pontiac always had more displacement, at least 1 cui more, like in the first gen the biggest engine dropped in camaros were 396 ci, and pontiac had the good ol’ 400 ci. so the heads had to be different to say the least, not to forget the Ram Airs with all that sweet power, and last but not least, pontiac ALWAYS had more torque then chevys. well that’s what i’ve read here and there.
actually the whole drive train is the same…same motor, same tranny, same horsepower, same torque…only difference the body…trans am was built for more…yes im quoting this “sex appeal”
if i’m not mistaken, Pontiac are the ones that built the platform, and GM gave it to Chevy, and mechanically it never was a camaro even if i’m wrong and Chevy built it, the chassis was shared, but nothing else was shared, the engine sizes were all quite different, and Chevy had more power, while Pontiac had tonnes of more torque.
Mechanically it was a Camaro underneath always had been, you’re right about Pontiac though they’ve gone from “we build excitement” to “We are boredom”.
actually it was turning more and more into a camaro, i’m actually glad they axed it, they screwed Pontiac over when they decided to use GM crate engines, and today, pontiac is dead, having a rebadged saturn and a holden, third gen birds had some characteristics, 4th gen had a little too, but pretty much they were both camaros. only way i’d like the bird back if Pontiac became an independent company.

Excellent tribute damn GM for axing such a legendary car.
