Like Ford did with the Mustang, Dodge with the Challenger, and Chevy with the Camaro. Shouldn’t Pontiac look at a more iconic body style for the GTO
I like the ‘69 GTO myself. But feel free to put down whichever you like.
No they should not they have all ready desecrated the GTO name buy calling the new GTO a GTO. Every time I here someone call them a goat I want to scream.
They are a fine car for what they are but they will never be able to copy a true GTO
People anymore mistake what a MUSCLE CAR was it was a huge 2 door family sedan with a giant motor that could run real fast in a straight line but they didn’t handle so well. got horrible gas mileage that is why when they started making the pony cars they stopped making muscle cars they are very limited in what they can do and more people wanted a car that could not only run fast but handle well to
In order to make the new gto’s like a real GTO they would have to add about 2000 lbs 200hp Muscle cars are dead they will never revive them they had there time.
I am not a big fan of the whole retro styling thing on any of the newer version of old cars beit a mustang camaro or even the thunderbird. If the factory really wanted to make a cool car they would make an exact reprocuction of a 69 camaro and put a modern drivetrain suspension and braking system in it. Like putting a LS6 in a 69 camaro body that would rock. If they did that they would sell a lot more. otherwise they are just butchering a clasic car to make a few bucks.
And in my opinion the 1969 gto judge was the coolest car ever made.
ME!!!!!!! A GM emp who sees how easy it is to reproduce the 1964 GTO with rubber bumpers and nothing else. A 108 in. wheelbase in either the 2 or 4 dr model would look better than those Australian engineers can desine a Camaro. No wonder my Co is drowning
Yep, my very first car was a ‘65 GTO with the factory Tri-Power 389 cu. in. / 360 HP / Muncie M-21 / 3.90 Posi. What a great car! Unfortunately John DeLorean is dead and there are no more visionaries at Pontiac these days. The ‘69 GTO was a masterpiece and defined the American Muscle Car at its zenith. Allowing a design team of AUSTRALIANS to resurrect the legendary GTO nameplate is blasphemy. Maybe someday the folks at GM will wake up and realize that an exterior reminiscent of the ‘69 GTO would be a big seller and would help turn that company around.
Actually, they did “design it after the original GTO”, because the original GTO was not visually much different from every other car on the road, it just had tons of power. The fact that the 04-06 GTO looks very “average” pays homage to the past car by following the same formula.
ya they should i think they should DESIGN it based on the 1967 model
Pontiac is not capable of such greatness
I do. When I saw the new GTO’s, I laughed. I don’t get where they get off calling that a GTO.
I see that it’s also very hard to get the Challenger, Charger, and GTO’s with a manual transmission. Are they begging us not to buy them?
